The 2023 Tour Championship Caddie Payout: How Much Each Caddie Makes At The FedEx Cup
The final event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs is here, The Tour Championship. Set at the pristine East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, The top 30 players left in the Playoffs field will be grinding it out to claim the Tours ultimate championship prize, the FedEx Cup. Claiming the title here, has no shortage of perks and offers a spot in history with the greats but it also comes with a very healthy financial benefit, which means we can expect nothing less than top-tier play throughout the tournament.
The Purse at the 2023 FedEx Cup
The total purse at this year's Tour Championship is$58 million. This is the amount available to the top 30 player in the field. The Total Purse for the FedEx Cup, however, is once again, $75 million. This equals that of last year's prize money pool. Similar to the 2022 FedEx Cup Tour Championship, this year’s winner is expected to take home a very handsome $18 million. For context, this is equal to the average purse at Major Championships on Tour. With all that money on the line, the caddie cohort is also expected to take home some healthy paydays as well, depending on where they finish.
How much does the winning Caddie Make at the Tour Championship?
The winning caddie at this year’s Tour Championship is expected to take home the usual 10% of the winner’s earnings. That amounts to a staggering $1.8 million, 400% more than caddies are taking home on average for being on the winning bag at this year’s Majors. There’s no change in payout, though, compared to what Harry Diamond took home last year when Rory won the FedEx Cup for the 3rd time.
How much do caddies make at the FedEx Cup?
The payout structure for caddies at the FedEx cup is not expected to change from what we’re accustomed to on Tour. With that, there will be vast differences depending on where each player finishes when the dust settles on Sunday. We can make some predictions though, using the payout model we know pros use to pay their caddies. In this model, a caddie is paid 5% for placing outside the top 10, 7% for placing inside the top 10, and 10% for winning.
