As the Tour gears up for the final Major of the year, players head to the Genesis Scottish Open to start the European leg of the race to the FedEx Cup. The Venue for this year’s Scottish Open is The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. This offers the field some much needed links-style practice, which will come in handy at The Open Championship next week. In addition, players are aiming to secure a fair share of FedEx cup points and, of course, a nice payout from this year’s purse.
The Purse at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open
The purse at this year’s Scottish Open is $9 million. In today’s climate, this doesn’t stack up well against the rising purses we’ve seen throughout the year but still offers a decent payout to the players that can finish in the top ranks. The winner at this's year's Scottish Open was Rory McIlroy, who made an incredible birdie putt t avoid a playoff with Robert MacIntyre. With this win, Rory earns himself a $1.575 million payday, which is a 9% improvement over 2022 and quite on par with other international Opens we’ve seen this year. As an example, Nick Taylor took home $1.62 million for winning his national event, The RBC Canadian Open.
