Meet John Ellis: Wyndham Clark’s Caddie

Wyndham Clark is a 6-year professional on the PGA Tour. Though he took some time to make waves on the Tour, he started to gain some notoriety after securing his first win at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship. Outside of that first win, he had 6 top-ten finishes and amassed as much as $11.4 million in winnings in those first 6 years. His performance at the 2023 U.S Open, thrusted him into golf stardom as he played well enough to be in contention on Sunday. Let’s get to know Wyndham Clark’s Caddie.

Who is Wyndham Clark’s Caddie?

Wyndham Clark’s Caddie is John Ellis. Ellis is, as most Tour caddies, a long time golf veteran. Ellis played golf at the collegiate level for University of Oregon and earned the distinction of First Team All Pac-10, in his senior year. He later tested his mettle in the professional ranks when he turned Pro in 2003. Though he never won on the PGA tour, he was able to secure 3 international wins in 2008 at the Mexican PGA Championship, The Telus Edmonton Open, and the Stockton Sports Commission Classic. In addition, he competed in 2 U.S. Opens (2008 and 2011). Ellis later left to PGA to pursue a coaching career back at the University of Oregon.

John Ellis and Wyndham Clark go as far back as Clark’s college days, where Ellis met Clark as an assistant coach at the University of Oregon. The exact timeline is still under investigation but we suspect they two have partnered since Clarke turned Pro 6- years ago.
