The Wells Fargo Championship is back and might be better than it’s ever been, for two reasons. The first is because it’s returning to the  historic Quail Hollow Golf Club, in North Carolina The second is because this year’s event is classified as a designated event. With its new designated status, we expect most of the top players in the world to be in attendance, which naturally drives up the sponsorship opportunities and ultimately leads to more prize money for the field.

The purse at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship

The purse at this year’s Wells Fargo Championship is $20 million. This isn’t that surprising though, since it’s what we’ve come to expect for designated events. This is more than 2 times as much as the pot at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, a 122% increase. The winner this week is poised to take home a hefty $3.6 million which is a 125% increase over last year’s winner, Max Homa.
