The 2022 PGA Championship is the second of the four major tournaments on the PGA tour. This year, the venue is at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The weekend’s unpredictable weather combined with the course restoration allowed for more well rounded players to thrive over the weekend. On Sunday, only a handful of the top players in the world found themselves in contention which included Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele. In the end, it came down to a playoff between Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris, where Justin Thomas came out victorious after an aggregated score of TK in the three-hole playoff. This marks Thomas’ second win at the PGA Championship.

The total purse at the 2022 PGA Championship is a very healthy $14.7 million. This pot puts the PGA Championship 4% higher than the prize money awarded to the field at the 2022 Masters but still not close to the $20 million pot at the Players Championship . The top total payout awarded to the top 3 in the field is $5.3 million, which accounts for 36% of the pot.
