If you saw the nail-biter finish of the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open, then you saw Luke List hit one of the best wedge shots to close out a dramatic playoff in the Farmers Insurance Open’s history. Luke List has played well enough on the PGA tour to be in contention a number of times but has been looking for his 1st PGA tour win for over 9 years. He finally found his way to the winners circle after waiting for over 1 hour to play in a playoff against Will Zalatoris for the Farmers Insurance Open Championship. We all know that Luke’s skillset speaks for itself but who is the person helping him make those crucial decisions around the golf course to put him in position to win his first championship? Let’s take some time to recognize Luke List’s caddie.
Who is Luke List's Caddie?
Luke Lists’s caddie is Jeff Willett. Willett is no newcomer to caddying on the PGA tour. In fact, he has caddied for some notable players over the years. According to the Caddie Network, Willett has caddied for the likes of Chez Reavie, David Toms, and Davis Love III, just to name a few. Like most of the caddies on the PGA tour, Jeff Willett has deep roots in the game of golf. He even has some collegiate golf play under his belt, with a 4-year stint representing the Terriers of Thomas College from 1991 - 1994.
When did Jeff Willett Start Caddying for Luke List?
The caddie partnership between Luke List and Jeff Willett is very new as of 2022. Prior to 2022, List’s caddie was Dykes Harbi. List and Harbin’s relationship goes as far back as the Korn Ferry tour, where the pair have won a few times together. These days, however, it’s Jeff Willett that is celebrating the most recent win, caddying for Luke List in the Farmers Insurance Open. That final shot came down to general knowledge and good caddying. List and Willet were faced with a 135 yard approach shot, with water just short of the green and a back stop about 4 yards past the hole. The two worked out the perfect number, 148, after calculating some extra yardage for cooler temperatures due to the setting sun. That choice in yardage left List with a tap-in birdie for the win.
How much does Jeff Willett, Luke List's caddie Make a year?
Since Jeff Willett is new as List’s caddie, There isn’t enough data to give a fair average for 2021. To get a sense of how much money Willet will make in 2022, I’ll keep an updated Table for 2022. As always, payouts for caddies vary based on performance so keep that in mind when reviewing the data below. The caddie’s pay is calculated using the formula most tour players use for paying their caddies: 5% of earnings if the player places outside the top 10, 7% if the player finishes within the top 10, and 10% if the player finishes in 1st place. Based on this information, Jeff Willett should have made close to $151,200 as of January 2022.
